A Woodlands Coffee Purchase Is Putting Wings on Children’s Dreams…
Woodlands Coffee Roasters & Cafe has designed and created The Orphanage Coffee Project. Our entire concept is built around the full-circle significance of providing deeper purpose, education, and training in “all the ways of coffee” for the youth at Orphanage Emmanuel in Guiamaca, Honduras (our son, Henson’s, former orphanage). Through the partnership of selfless local Honduran coffee farmer (AKA “Mr. Miyagi”), The Orphanage Coffee Project was born. Through the compassionate and dedicated hearts and hands of a Woodlands Mission Team, we planted over 3,000 coffee plants on the orphanage compound. This coffee field serves as a “classroom” for the orphanage youth to learn a trade and a career in order to support themselves and their families when they leave the orphanage (usually at 16 years of age). These apprentices also receive training at Mr. Miyagi’s plantation. They are learning how to grow their futures, create hope, and build dreams.
