When you support Woodlands, you are putting wings on children’s dreams! A portion of Woodlands sales are poured back into The Orphanage Project to support the youth, employees, and volunteers of Orphanage Emmanuel in Guaimaca, Honduras. Through The Orphanage Coffee Project, the youth (“mighty warriors”) of Orphanage Emmanuel are learning an invaluable education in the business of coffee farming. This is made possible through our partnership with a compassionate, selfless local Honduran farmer who we affectionally call “Mr. Miyagi.” Through his nearby coffee plantation and the coffee crops we have purchased and planted on the orphanage’s compound, Mr. Miyagi educates the youth in “all the ways of coffee” – from the seed to the bean. The Orphanage Coffee Project is a pathway to freedom and a way for youth to emerge like a phoenix from the ashes of generational poverty in one of the coffee meccas of the world. This education enables them the opportunity to gain a valuable education to support themselves and their families after they leave the orphanage (typically at 16 years of age).
